How to Create a Wood Texture
1Create a new layer with a background color of #A97400. Go to Filter >> Noise >> Add Noise and use these settings:

Amount: 115
Distribution: Uniform
Monochromatic: Checked

2Go to Filter >> Blur >> Motion Blur and use these settings:

Angle: 0
Distance: 120

If the ends show way to much of the lines crop the image smaller you be the judge.

3 Add noise again but this time use only 8 instead of 115.

4 Take the Circle Marquee tool and make a circle where you would like you knot in the wood. Go to Select >> Feather and Feather it by 10. Go to Filter >> Distort >> Wave and keep the default setting except for where it says Amplitude in the second box put 60 then hit enter.

5 Now your done, The bigger the image is the better for this wood texture.
